This morning, members assisted with testing one of our Firefighter II members for full active status. These evaluations not only serve as a formal test, but also as an excellent training opportunity for anyone in attendance, showcasing a variety of fireground scenarios and essential skills.

The test covers just about everything a driver/operator may encounter on a scene, including but not limited to:
• First-due engine operations
• Supply engine operations
• Supplying an aerial device
• Utilizing a hydrant assist valve
• Standpipe operations

After completing the day’s scenarios, the Firefighter II member participates in a table top review to discuss how each scenario went, what went well, and where improvements or increased efficiency can be made.

Ultimately, the final determination and promotion are made by the Chief’s Office.
